I ordered the Argosy HD-363N from the link below. I installed a 300G Seagate Barracuda (7200RPM/8MB buffer/Ultra ATA/100) full retail kit for <$150 after rebate. Thus, I now have a 300G (279G formatted) NAS for < $235 shipped. Amazing.

From the time I had the pieces unpacked to the time I had it up and running was about five minutes. Administration of the device is through a web browser. It took only a few seconds for the drive to be formatted. I've never seen such a thing! It was so fast I thought it was broken. I had to copy a file over just to make sure it was working. Fast and easy, who could ask for more?

However, the true question was if it would be compatible with the AudioTron. I copied about fifty CDs in WAV form from my music server to the NAS. I then disabled my music server, added the NAS to my list of shares in the AT admin tool, and power cycled the AT. The AT detected all 60 songs without issue. It plays them just fine, too.

The Argosy HD-363N just works. It's fast, inexpensive, easy, virtually silent, attractive, and barely larger than the 3 1/2" HH hard drive it houses. It's fanless, but doesn't run hot. While I've only had it running for a day, so far I have no reason not to recommend it.

There are instructions included for how to attach the NAS directly to your PC through the Ethernet port. I didn't try this feature as I have little interest in doing so, but someone without a LAN might want this ability.

Oh, I did encounter one quirk. It failed to create the directory name "99.9 F°" under Suzanne Vega. Obviously there are limitations on the character set. However, I have a number of foreign language recordings and the various odd (non-English) characters were reproduced just fine.

Hello,

I know that several hard drive enclosures have been discussed as working
with the audiotron but has anyone tried the Argosy? I have posted a
link to it. What I like about it is that the hard drive actually fits
inside the case instead of having to attach via usb. One less power
cord with this one. I appreciate your comments.
