AT can't get IP address for hosts

My AT, after working fine for ages, suddenly says it "Can't get IP address for host ........ 

It can't find any IP addresses for any hosts.  

First it was finding a whole bunch of weird shares that look like registry entries. So I selected manual search and eneterd the names of the share directories. No difference.

Everything else looks normal and NAV and firewall are off.

Another weird thing is, when I tell it to quit looking for new files it says aborting but never stops.

What is going on?
