Dear Colleagues,

We would like to invite you to share the following opportunity with your
PhD students and early-career researchers.

PJAIT is hosting the International Summer School on Disinformation
Detection and Debunking; a 7-day hybrid programme (September 12-18, 2026,
Warsaw & online) bringing together doctoral researchers from computer
science, psychology, media studies, and related disciplines to tackle one
of the most pressing challenges in today's information landscape.

─────────────────────────────────
What the school offers
─────────────────────────────────

• Lectures by international experts covering NLP, machine learning for
credibility assessment, data analysis, cognitive psychology, and the ethics
of AI-based detection systems
• A Supervised Dataset Challenge - participants work in small
interdisciplinary teams on curated, annotated datasets (including MIPD and
MALINT, developed by the programme's own lecturers) to produce reproducible
pipelines and research proposals
• Top-ranked teams enter a post-school mentorship track aimed at
publishable outputs
• AI Summit PJAIT 2026 (September 16), co-located with the school
• Both in-person and fully synchronous online participation options

Accepted lecturers include: Arkadiusz Modzelewski (PJAIT / University of
Padua / NASK), Marina Ernst (University of Koblenz), Styliani Kleanthous
(Open University of Cyprus, AI4Everyone project), and Mateusz Zadroga (
FakeNews.pl / EU DisinfoLab).

The programme is organised by PJAIT in partnership with the University of
Koblenz, the Open University of Cyprus, NAWA, and the EUonAIR University
Alliance.

─────────────────────────────────
Who should apply
─────────────────────────────────

PhD candidates and early-career researchers in ICT, Psychology, Cognitive
Science, Media Studies, Journalism, or Political Communication or other
disciplines, who are interested in disinformation. Basic Python is
recommended for the dataset challenge track; participants without a
programming background are still welcome to join to contribute their unique
know-how.

─────────────────────────────────
Funding
─────────────────────────────────

NAWA co-funds participation. International PhD candidates may apply for a
scholarship covering travel, hotel, and meals. Meals for local participants
are also covered as the school will offer coffee breaks with snacks,
lunches and brown bag dinners.
