Dear colleagues,

We are pleased to invite you to submit your work to the ESORICS 2026 workshop on Human-Targeted Cyber Threats and Defenses (HumSec'26), to be held in Rome, Italy, September 14–18, 2026.

HumSec'26 focuses on phishing, mis/disinformation, cybercrime, usable security, and other topics related to human-centered cyber threats and defenses.

**Call For Papers**

Topics of Interest (but not limited to)

1. Understanding, Measuring, and Characterizing Human-Targeted Cyber Threats

    - Human-subjects studies (e.g., surveys) on online fraud, scams, phishing, misinformation/disinformation, harassment and online abuse

    - Measurement studies that yield new insights into Human-Targeted Cyber Threats (e.g., bottlenecks)

    - Analysis of attack infrastructure (e.g., phishing kits ecosystems)

    - AI-driven generation of human-targeted attacks

    - Emerging human-centric threats that exploit human vulnerabilities (e.g., urgency, fear, curiosity)

    - Studies identifying gaps between existing defenses and real-world threats

    - Governance, policy, and ethical challenges in human-centric cybersecurity

2. Countermeasures to Mitigate Human-Targeted Cyber Threats

    - AI-powered defense mechanisms against human-targeted attacks

    - Machine Learning or other advanced techniques for detecting and mitigating human-targeted threats (e.g., phishing detectors)

    - Human factors in the design, usability and effectiveness of defense mechanisms

    - Security and privacy in human-centric systems

    - Adversarial robustness of defense mechanisms

    - Security education and training

    - Submission deadline: June 25, 2026 (11:59 PM AOE)

    - Notification: July 21, 2026

    - Camera-ready deadline: July 29, 2026

**Submission**

    - Please submit your papers via EasyChair: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=esorics2026.

    - Papers must be written in English, submitted as a single PDF file, anonymized for double-blind review, and must follow the official LNCS template.

    - Long papers are limited to 16 pages and short papers to 8 pages, excluding references and appendices. Note that reviewers are not required to read the appendices.

**Publication & Presentation**

Accepted papers will be published by Springer in the LNCS collection. At least one author of each accepted paper will be required to register for the workshop and present the work orally or as a poster.
