🥽 VERA Use Grant proposals (NSF Virtual Experience Research Accelerator)

=F0=9F=93=A3 The Virtual Experience Research Accelerator (VERA) is now accep=
ting Use Grant proposals. Selected projects will receive free access to the =
VERA platform, participant compensation, and personalized technical and oper=
ational support.

=F0=9F=9A=80 We especially encourage research questions that leverage VERA=E2=
=80=99s unique capabilities for large-scale VR-based experiments, rapid data=
 collection, and precisely targeted participant populations =E2=80=94 capabi=
lities that enable experiments that would otherwise be impractical using tra=
ditional laboratory methods.

=F0=9F=A7=A9 Projects should involve stand-alone VR experiences that partici=
pants can complete independently without researcher intervention, although t=
he VERA platform includes support for managing experimental conditions, offe=
ring in-world surveys, and collecting standardized measures. Experiences mus=
t run on Meta Quest 2, 3, or 3S headsets. At least one lead investigator mus=
t be affiliated with a U.S.-based academic institution with appropriate ethi=
cs oversight.

=F0=9F=A5=BD The Virtual Experience Research Accelerator (VERA) enables rese=
archers to conduct VR-based human-subjects experiments that were previously =
impractical because of participant recruitment, logistics, time, and cost. W=
ith VERA, researchers can recruit hundreds or thousands of participants from=
 a broad and diverse participant pool, precisely target the populations need=
ed for their research, and complete experiments in days with minimal oversig=
ht.

VERA is supported by the U.S. National Science Foundation as national resear=
ch infrastructure for the XR research community.
