Biological/Life Sciences Web App UX Case Studies

Hello,

User experience design is something that I have been introduced to via 
my graduate studies in Information Management.  So I have very limited 
and basic knowledge on the subject.  My professional background is 
process development and optimization in the biological/life sciences 
industry.  I believe that the methodologies discussed and implemented 
by those in the UX industry can vastly improve the usability of 
applications used by biological/life scientists.

I am wondering if anyone could point me in a direction that would lead 
me to case studies involving user experience, usability, user centered 
design principles to show or demonstrate how a product used in the 
life sciences may have been (or could be) improved by implementing 
methodologies from UX.

Basically, my goal is to see examples where UX has reached, is 
reaching software development for biological/life sciences - 
preferably web applications.
