[Already posted to IAI and IxDA. My apologies for cross-posting!] EightShapes is conducting a survey, and if you participate you could win a book! *Please find the survey here:* *http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=oX3e15sjIPnPXoRRUjmfjA_3d_3d* We're giving away two copies each of Communicating Design by Dan Brown and Modular Web Design by Nathan Curtis. You could win one, if you give us 20 minutes of your time to complete a survey. The survey is about documentation. Our industry needs a better understanding of the many documents produced by designers. Communicating our design is a crucial part of our work, and yet no industry standards have emerged. When employed effectively, deliverables inject accountability, predictability, and traceability into our process. And yet documentation sometimes comes under fire when people don't feel like they're spending enough time "doing design" or aren't proficient enough to produce good documentation fast. The purpose of this survey is to paint a picture of documentation's role in our work, of our favorite tools, and of how we use time-saving techniques. The survey asks questions about your role, your design process, and the kinds of artifacts you create. It's *25 multiple-choice questions and takes about 20 minutes to complete*. Though we've beta-tested the survey, there's probably a few things wrong with it. Your patience with its shortcomings is greatly appreciated. *Please find the survey here:* *http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=oX3e15sjIPnPXoRRUjmfjA_3d_3d* EightShapes will publish the results of the survey later this year.
