If you try a classic newsreader (as slrn, mozilla, etc.), it is always long the first time, when you get the groups list. This why I had added subscribtion. But I find that IMAP proxying is too slow, and I have planned to replace it and store .newsrc in a database (see troll/docs/TODO, second point). I'd like to use the PEAR NNTP package. However, I don't have as much time as I'd like, and I've not hacked Troll for a while... but I'm glad to see interest again for this project. -- Th.
