The reason to get involved with spi-inc.org are a few, and there may be more. This is just what i know
and the reasons that i feel it is a good way to to.
1. Asset management. People don't feel comfortable about turning domain names over to just another
individual, so spi-inc can be that entity that we can turn the names over to. This allows the active
developers to manage those resources. Currently we need to e-mail someone that is not active with the
project on certain names, and hope they will work with us.
2. People want to donate monetarily to the project. This would allow them to put their money in the 
project and know that it will be used for the project. This would help pay for servers, storage, hosting
fees, domain name renewals and other needs the project has.
3. Being a member of spi-inc.org the PHPEclipse project will gain their financial and legal services.

We must start using the dev mailing list more. I agree with that. I have found that i put things out in
the channel, but that is not where allot of people watch for PHPEclipse development tasks. So your 
thoughts on using a mailing list is correct, and this list is the place we must start posting what
is going on in the project. However i feel the meetings still should happen in the channel, and then
have the notes from it posted to the mailing list. And people can reply to that.

Why are we using a Java based system for a PHP based project? It's the
tool that works, so we use it. (but Trac does support Postgresql ;-) )
And we are using the sqlite db for the backend. And i feel that this
does not distract from progress. What was distracting me was going to
the sf site and it sometimes not working. They may have rectified the
issues by now, but at the time it was very annoying. Also with the
forum, ticket system, timeline, and wiki all in one place it makes it
very convenient. Another item to note is that with the integration Trac
has with mylyn in Eclipse i feel it will help boost productivity. But
that's just me.

I feel the same way about PHPEclipse being recognized by the Eclipse Project. And the way i see
to combat that, and to get recognized  is to make the PHPEclipse the
best PHP IDE for Eclipse. It should be so good that everyone looks at
PDT and thinks "What the heck! Why is Eclipse supporting and IDE with so
little features and functionality! PHPEclipse does way more than this,
it should be what Eclipse.org is pushing!". We (I) want to be that
Community based project that simply works and does the best job at what
it;s supposed to do.

Now i have the rest of the day to work on RCP app, and watch for
