Not sure if it matters for purposes of our conversation but the file=20
associations I'm talking about is under Windows Integration and not=20
Komodo's file association extensions.
Sorry to add to the confusion... (meaning mine) :-[

save file association with elevated permissions I immediately
close Komodo and then restart and logon as me normal user status.
All other changes to my preferences file are done as a regular
user. This technique has been suggested from lots of Komodo users
and developers for a long time now. I'm clearly confusing the
situation here, maybe my terminology is incorrect. The problems
I'm experiencing relates only to Komodo latest 7.0.1 release.
Actually, I rarely even change file associations as they typically
carry over when I upgrade Komodo via the Help =3D=3D> Check for
updates link.

Your last email pointed out something maybe I have been missing or
doing incorrectly. My understanding has been that right clicking
the Komodo icon and selecting "run as administrator" was only
upgrading user privileges and not running under the Administrator
account. In actuality I don't even have an Administrative login
account on this box, I am the only user and my account has
Administrative privileges.
Does this shed any light on the subject?

But that's not what you are doing when you log into the
Administrator account. You are not elevating the privileges in
*your* user account. You are logging into a separate, unrelated
account.

User accounts do not share user settings. They do not share file
associations.

When you save settings or change file associations in the
Administrator account (or any other account) it should never
affect settings or associations in your own account. They are
completely separate accounts.

Could you try what two of us have suggested? Stop logging out
and logging into a different account. Instead, run Komodo with
elevated privileges in your own account.

Make sure Komodo is not already running, then find it in your
Start menu (e.g. type "ko" and it will find it fast for you),
right click it, and select "Run as administrator". Then you can
apply your Windows settings in Komodo.
