Circling back around to this...

This morning I uninstalled all versions of Komodo (I also had 5 and 6
installed), then reinstalled Komodo 7; then I ran it as an administrator
and reapplied the file associations.

And things are now somewhat better. The Edit with Komodo action appears
in the context menu of files. And I can choose Komodo from the "Open
with..." dialog box.

But some extensions still aren't configured. In particular, JSON files
(.json extension) still open in Notepad (for both the Open and Edit
items), even though I included .json in the list of extensions I
associated with Komodo.

Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately, when I tried this, it didn't
work for me. I no longer saw the error after pressing the

made, neither the ones I added via the "configure common
associations..." dialog (like .js) nor one I added manually via
      the Add... button (.json).<br>
