All, It worked in the same way that you would normally play 20 questions as kids. The user tries to guess what the item is, by asking about aspects or facets of the object. The faciliator can only answer yes or no. Once the user gets to 20 questions they must guess what it is. If the user knows the answer before the 20 questions are up they can guess. It's not important that the user guesses correctly or incorrectly, the most important information to extract are the facets. For the microscopy example, lots of people started asking if it was animal, mineral or vegetable (they got into the swing very quickly) and also wanted to know if it was cellular or non-cellular. For web sites, the first question was nearly always if it was a e-commerce site and what it was about. So for the microscopy example the some of the facets we came up with were: * Species * Type of electron microscope * The magnification of the microscope * The biological process being demonstrated * Part of the organism or cell being shown * The method for taking the image It is really fun to do. The only thing that struck us as we were doing the facilitation that you really needed to know your subject matter. My co-facilitator last studied biology in secondary school and my science degree was over 10 years ago. It made us realise how much we DIDN'T know. :) Mags --- PeterV <[email protected]> wrote: > > > I have previously used "20 questions" as a way to > generate > > facets from a domain.
