libraries really have no money for such reform (in the US anyway), and if 
most librarians believe LCSH is a good thing, why should they even *think* 
about spending money they don't have to change an indexing feature most 
library visitors could not care less about?

i think the thing for information science is to keep LCSH from spreading 
any further...
