Andrew,

Many, many thanks. This helps me a lot! Do you have references or is
this all in your head? Do you know of software that allows the
cooperation between a machine (that generates metadata) and humans (that
tweak the output)? My problem is "how do I prevent that I need to redo
the human part every time the machine has generated new output"? Do I
make this problem too difficult, is it actually very simple?

cheers,

Marcel

IMHO, only if it matches the requirements of the end user communities.

I think some facets could be easily derived automatically from data and
documents. However, it might not be that useful so allowing an
information designer to tweak the facets, assign priorities and
disable/hide unwanted facets would be necessary.

Does the facet get used? Do the users think it adds value or improves
their ability to find information? (Of course, I have a software
developer-centric view of the world. :-)
