Daly:

I run a couple of groups through Yahoo as well, and it's still possible for 
spammers to "sneak" in if you "approve" everyone that signs up. Lately I've 
taken to sending a "reply" message to any new subscribers with domains of 
known spammers (free accounts, like hotmail, yahoo, etc). I simply ask them 
to reply to the message with their full name and I will approved them. In 
the last 6 months I've done this with about 6 or so subscribers and three 
of them never replied. ;-)

On the main list in which I've instituted this policy I've had exactly two 
spams, and those "members" were immediately removed and had their spam 
expunged.
