Call for Doctoral Consortium Participation at the 2026 ACM SIGIR=20
Conference on Human Information Interaction and Retrieval (CHIIR),=20
Seattle, Washington, USA 14=E2=80=9318 March, 2020

The ACM CHIIR Doctoral Consortium provides an opportunity for doctoral=20
students working in the areas of user-centered approaches to the design=20
and evaluation of systems for information access, retrieval, and use to=20
present and discuss their research with experienced researchers and=20
other doctoral students in a seminar format. We welcome submissions=20
representing a broad spectrum of research topics relevant to the CHIIR=20
community, including research on information (seeking and searching)=20
behaviour (IB), human-computer interaction (HCI), and information=20
retrieval (IR).

The Doctoral Consortium (DC) focuses on advising students regarding=20
their research. In addition, the DC enables students to establish a=20
supportive community, including other doctoral students working in=20
related areas or at a similar stage of their dissertation research.

The Doctoral Consortium targets students roughly halfway through their=20
Ph.D. program. At a minimum, students should have formulated their=20
research problem, suggested methods, and, at a maximum, to have=20
submitted some of the early Ph.D. work for publication. The Doctoral=20
Consortium is inappropriate for students nearly finished with their=20
Ph.D. work.

Accepted DC student participants will be encouraged to apply for ACM=20
SIGIR Student Travel Grants to assist with their travel to CHIIR 2026.=20
More information about the travel awards will be provided closer to the=20
conference.

Note: the CHIIR 2026 Doctoral Consortium will be an in-person event only.
