The Department of Electronics & Computer Science of the University of 
Santiago de Compostela
is willing to offer a position in the
context of the national R&D program "Parga Pondal". The Department is 
seeking a
keen enthusiastic researcher to reinforce the Information Retrieval 
activities and projects conducted
in the Department. The post holder will work closely with  Dr. David E. 
Losada, who
currently leads different Information Retrieval projects.
Our current IR activities are mainly focused on formal/mathematical 
models of IR (especially, language
modeling and logic-based approaches). Anyway, the Department invites 
applications
from candidates specializing in any area of Information Retrieval.
The post holder will have the freedom to develop and further their own 
research agenda.

The candidates will have to apply to a competitive local call with the 
following requirements:

-To have a PhD in topics related to Information Retrieval
-To have worked (or made research stays) in universities or research 
centers different from the university in which the PhD was
awarded for at least 24 months after having obtained the doctorate degree.

Conditions:

-3 year contract + 2 years (conditioned to a positive evaluation of the 
research conducted during the first 3 years)
-gross salary: 36000 euros p.a. (note that this includes the social costs)
