The real world impacts me as it will -- it doesn't generally
wait around for me to access it -- though I can of course do
things that contribute to the ongoing action in various ways.
Many of those impacts make lasting impressions that afford a
basis for signs of their original objects.  That basis seems
best which is plastic and stable enough to be transformed in
association with other sign users.
