Ryhm=E4n toiminta, mik=E4li se kehittyy aktiiviseksi ja laajalti tunn=
etuksi
yhteistoiminnan keskukseksi, olisi merkitt=E4v=E4 saavutus Linuxin ja=
 yleisesti
avoimen l=E4hdekoodin ohjelmistojen k=E4ytt=F6=F6noton edist=E4misess=
=E4 Suomessa.

ostunut ryhm=E4n
toiminnan kehitt=E4misest=E4 ja olisin halunnut jatkaa edelleen, mutt=

valitettavasti ole en=E4=E4 mahdollista johtuen syntyneist=E4 henkil=
=F6ristiriidoista.

Koska en itse olisi erityisesti halunnut luopua roolistani ryhm=E4n t=
oiminnan
kehitt=E4j=E4n=E4, ja lopputulokseen johtanut asian k=E4sittely oli m=
ielest=E4ni aika
ep=E4asiallista, koen tarpeelliseksi selitt=E4=E4 taustalla olevia sy=
it=E4 lyhyesti.

Kuten olen jo aiemmin usein maininnut, olen ollut viime syksyst=E4 l=
=E4htien
eritt=E4in kiireinen j=E4ljell=E4 olevien opintojeni kanssa, en ole e=
htinyt kehitt=E4=E4
toimintaamme aivan t=E4ysipainoisesti. Viime kuussa Aschwin katsoi, e=
tt=E4 emme
olleet saavuttaneet tavoitteitamme, ja ett=E4 olimme itse asiassa ep=
=E4onnistuneet
ja ett=E4 h=E4n siksi halusi muutosta vet=E4jiss=E4. N=E4ht=E4v=E4sti=
 my=F6s erimielisyytemme
lokalisointiportaalista vaikuttivat tilanteen kehittymiseen.

Vaikka pyrin itse p=E4=E4sem=E4=E4n eroon turhista erimielisyyksist=
=E4mme, Aschwin ei
suostunut luopumaan kannastaan eik=E4 j=E4tt=E4m=E4=E4n puuttumatta
lokalisointity=F6ryhm=E4n toimintaan. Mik=E4 pahinta, Aschwin on k=
=E4ytt=E4ytynyt n=E4iss=E4
keskusteluissa hyvin syytt=E4v=E4sti, ylimielisesti ja loukkaavasti i=
tse=E4ni
kohtaan. H=E4n on my=F6s jatkuvasti ollut tyystin v=E4linpit=E4m=E4t=
=F6n pyynn=F6ist=E4ni,
ettei asioita olisi pakko k=E4sitell=E4 juuri silloin, kun tarvitsen =
aikaa
opinnoilleni, aiheuttaen minulle merkitt=E4v=E4=E4 henkil=F6kohtaista=
 vahinkoa.

T=E4m=E4 on tietysti oma n=E4k=F6kulmani konfliktista. Kuitenkin, kos=
ka Aschwin on
Linux-Aktivaattorin puheenjohtaja ja ty=F6ryhm=E4 toimii virallisesti
Linux-Aktivaattorin alaisuudessa (mik=E4 oli itse asiassa alunperin o=
ma
pyynt=F6ni), t=E4llainen tulehtunut tilanne ei ole pidemm=E4n p=E4=
=E4lle toimiva.

T=E4st=E4 huolimatta, pyrkimyksemme on t=E4rke=E4mpi kuin oma osanott=
oni, joten toivon
ryhm=E4n kehittyv=E4n edelleen kohti hahmottelemiamme p=E4=E4m=E4=
=E4ri=E4. Koin sen
t=E4rke=E4ksi silloin ja koen edelleen.

Toisaalta olen sik=E4li my=F6s tyytyv=E4inen, ett=E4 saan nyt vihdoin=
 keskitytty=E4
opintoihini t=E4ysip=E4iv=E4isesti.

Aschwin on ilmoittanut toimivansa ryhm=E4n sijaisvet=E4j=E4n=E4 kunne=
s uusi vet=E4j=E4 on
l=F6ytynyt, yhdess=E4 Marian kanssa.

Mahdolliset vastaukset tulee l=E4hett=E4=E4 lokalisaatioty=F6ryhm=
=E4n postituslistalle.

Call for a new leader for the localisation working group.

The working group will need a new leader. If you are interested in he=
lping to
develop this important effort, please consider taking charge of organ=
izing it.

The working group will, if it in future develops into an active and w=
ell-known
hub of cooperation, be a remarkable achievement towards adaptation of=
 Linux
and more generally open source software in Finland.

Some background in the working group or in translation groups is usef=
ul,
though not necessary, as most of the required knowledge can be easily=
 learned
=66rom mailing list archives and other existing materials.

The final selection will be made at the localisation workshop in May.

Effective immediately, I am resigning my position as the leader of th=
e working
group. I have been interested in developing this effort, and I would =
have
liked to continue, but that does not seem possible any longer due to =
a
personal conflict.

As I would not have particularly liked to leave my role, and as the c=
onflicts
were not resolved in a businesslike fashion, to say the least, I feel=
 need to
explain the reasons briefly.

As I have mentioned earlier, I have been rather busy since last fall =
and will
be until summer, so I have not been able to work on our activities fu=
ll time.
Last month, Aschwin asserted that we hadn't accomplished our goals, t=
hat we
had actually failed, and that he therefore wanted change in leadershi=
p.
Apparently also our disagreements about the localisation portal influ=
enced how
the situation ensued.

While I tried to settle our unproductive differences, Aschwin was not=
 able to
distance himself from the disagreements and leave the matters of the =
working
group to us. What is worst, Aschwin has been very accusing, arrogant,=
 and
insulting towards me during these discussions. He has continuously be=
en
completely insensitive my pleas to not be immediately demanded when I=
 need
time to concentrate on my studies, causing them considerable harm.

This is, of course, the situation from my point of view. Nevertheless=
, as
Aschwin is the chairman of Linux-Aktivaattori, and as the working gro=
up is
officially organized under Linux-Aktivaattori (which was, by the way,=
 my
request originally), such an inflamed situation is not durable.
Personal conflicts must not hinder our common endeavour.

As this working group started largely from my initiative, and as I ha=
ve been
working hard to develop it, this result is greatly disappointing to m=
e. I
would have hoped that needless quarreling that emerged from nothing h=
ad not
ended with this sort of result.

Regardless of this result, our effort is much more important than my
involvement, so I hope you continue to develop it further towards the=
 goals we
have outlined. I found it very important before and I still do.

On the other hand, I'm also somewhat relieved that I can finally conc=
entrate
on my studies without distractions.

Until the new leader is found, Aschwin has taken the position of an a=
cting
leader of the working group, together with Maria.
