Thanks Dov - that's the advice I needed! I can build fribidi if I run
the meson tools from a Visual Studio command prompt - but not if I run
from a conventional Windows command prompt. That's where I was going

to generate a Debug build, rather than a Release build?
And lastly - do you know if it's possible to build fribidi as a static
library, rather than a DLL?
