Unicode support throughout EphPod?

I recently made the mistake of setting up my ipod through a network from my desktop to my laptop (hoping that EphPod would be able to work fine thinking the iPod was actually attached to the system even though it was really a network drive). To make a long story short (details below), EphPod didn't like that very much at all and killed my iTunesDB (no error, seemed like it saved fine but when I went to reopen my iPod Now, I went and tried to rebuild my DB using the "iPod Tools" -> "Rebuild DB from iPod" and all of my Unicode info is gone, with just question marks in place of the Unicode characters (this is what I usually see in programs that don't support Unicode). I had previously changed all those songs by hand using Ctrl+I with the "Save to ID3 Tag of MP3 Also" checked and I assumed that was writing Unicode ID3 tag info to the files (the quick-edit keys don't work for Unicode.. at least for me. When I tried using them, they completely ruined those mp3s... the iPod would just skip past them when trying to play them). So really, after all that explanation, my question is (probably for Joe): is EphPod now 100% Unicode-based? Or are there some features that are Unicode (Ctrl+I) and some that are not (Rebuild DB from iPod) and possible some that are buggy (the quick-edit keys?)? David And now the details of what not to do (at least this is what happened to me... seems logically like it should work, but it doesn't)... (all under Win2k) I set up the iPod as a new path on my desktop, under Z:\iPod (along with my usual drive letter, V... but I use Z:\ as a central point for shares). I then connected to Z:\iPod with my laptop and used "SUBST V: Z:\iPod" which turns Z:\iPod into V:, allowing my laptop to see V: as a new, network drive. Then used EphPod, selecting V: as the drive for my iPod. All of my songs showed up, I went to edit a few things, saved and closed. Reopened it again in a few minutes and everything was gone. Oh well. ------------------------------------------------------ ephPod Mailing List FAQ and HomePage http://www.ephpod.com mailto:[email protected] to susbcribe mailto:[email protected] to unsusbcribe mailto:[email protected] the mailing-list itself
