Smart playlists?

I created some smart playlists on my 3rd-gen iPod using a Mac, but they don't seem to last very long, disappearing as soon as I plugged it into = a PC and added a couple of songs. I found them really handy for the short amount of time I got to use = them... Are there any tools that create smart playlists in Windows? If I got someone to create them for me on a Mac, is there a file they can pull = off of their iPod to email to me?
