Regarding MySql, performance wise isn't PgSQL better(thinking open-source here)? Yes it's also harder to setup, but better. Regarding Andrea's comment on Joerg's thought for the new generation of ISPman, I also think it would be better to have a soap backend, that way we can have a detached front-end coded in whatever language one chooses to.
