Questions about DNS.

I have a need to change to default of how long before check on an A
record.  here is an Example:

smtp    1D      IN      A       x.x.x.x

I want to change that to something smaller like 5 Mins but only for that
entry ever thing else I want to stay at one day.

smtp    5M      IN      A       x.x.x.x

That way if I have a T1 failiure I can make changes to the DNS and have to
prograte fast so I can move what for me is the most import services to off
site backups.

I have been tring to follow the code for that.  I found were to enter the
template code for display but not sure how to connect that code to the
dnszone schema and have that data generate.  Any info you can give would
be great.  I am not a perl programer althought I have read a few books and
can at least follow the code some.
