I'm using Kernel 2.4 but that truely comes down to what hardware you are 
using and to certain religion issues :)
Kernel choice does not affect your ISPMan functionality.

you don't need to change that, but you need to load the backend module 
in /etc/ldap/slapd.conf (in the global section):
modulepath      /usr/lib/ldap
moduleload      back_ldbm.so

doig this, you will be able to specify ldbm databases, but these two 
lines are either missing or incorrect in the ISPMan-suggested config file.
