In fact, I never used that option myself, so it's unlikely I tried to 
"improve" anything there ;)
BTW: I still believe we should get rid of those hash files, but that's a 
totally different story :))

Sorry, that I can't be much of help here, but it would definetely help 
debugging if someone could describe the problem on a reproducible basis.
