Okay, so I am now making some progress. I added the following to my
imapd.conf file:

sasl_saslauthd_path: /var/lib/sasl2/mux

and now get a different error when I attempt to log in via telnet on
port 110:

+OK cp01.van.murrell.ca Cyrus POP3 v2.2.12-Mandriva-RPM-2.2.12-15mdk
server ready <3229021116.1143731761-3am+9zzyZ/98iPpqxAJIDSwD8/[email protected]>
user alan_murrell_ca
+OK Name is a valid mailbox
pass XXXXXXXXXX
-ERR [SYS/PERM] Unable to locate maildrop: Mailbox does not exist
quit
+OK
Connection closed by foreign host.

The user definately exists in ISPMan, but no mailbox appears to have
been created. Where would I normally find the mailboxes? I looked in
'/etc/var/spool' and saw the following likely possibilities, but nothing
revealing inside them:

  imap
  mail
  postfix (??)

Thanks for your help!

-Alan
