I've also given the patch a quick spin, and did not find any
problems--haven't found any problems with the RC in fact.

I've tested the patch and have confirmed that it does fix the problem.  I've
also attached the source for a rather rudamentary test.  The unicode escape
characters are Hebrew, so you may need that font to test.

The patch did not seem to have any adverse effects.
