i've upgraded the maven embedder binaries on 25/Feb and then again on
5/Mar. That's possibly the cause of the problem.

That's the most probable cause of the issue.  So it either didn't find
your settings or the local repository from settings was not used for
some reason.

if it hang, it would be helpful to get a thread dump of the
application. It could be a deadlock..
the exception is unrelated, it seems we removed an action from menu
but keep it around defined in layer files.
I'll fix that..
