I'm very glad that such a discussion is taking place. The company I
work for also uses BSH in its products for scripting support and we're
not very happy that we cannot commit patches nor get patches for
current bugs.

>From the thread I can say that the fschmidt bsh2 fork is a bit too
scary for us. The approach of everybody getting their stuff in is too
experimental. We're looking for more of a maintenance mode with
bugfixes and only features that would have Java compatibility in mind.
We're also interested in compiling for Java 1.4 as long as possible. I
guess our wishes are the closest to David's ones.

So if there would be a stability branch we could definitely support it
with bug fixes, testing, code-reviews etc.
