I have been able to setup cc on Linux successfully.
It was very hard getting all the info though.

But this book "Pragmatic Project Automation" by Mike Clark
helped me to a great extent to get cc up and running with my project's build
and to configure reporting.

The chapter 3 titled "Scheduled Builds" has following couple of sections
which should be helpful.
3.2 Putting a Build on CruiseControl and
3.3 Running CruiseControl.

You'd be able to find it's e-book on the web.
