Lincoln, Sorry about the late reply on this, but things have been keeping me busy of late. In response to your question, the VMs themselves are Win XP VMs running on a Win XP Host. The first VM is our "build" VM where we download code from our repository, complile, and build the java related to the system we support prior to deployment to our Baseline, Integration, Pre-Production, and then Production environments. These other environments are Unix and we transfer the compiled java to these boxes for deployment. The second VM is the "Install" VM where we actually install the compiled code in order to create a functional product. This is what we then clone to distribute to our developers as their development environment. Each Dev gets their own copy of this VM to do their work in and then later we merge all changes back into our repository in prep for the next build. What we need in terms of a solution is something that will let us run ANT scripts in these VMs and also order VMware to take snapshots for baselineing and ordering the VM to produce cloned drives. VMWare has a scripting language (called VIX) that I'm reading up on, but regrettably I have little to no experience working with it and it seems to be C++ based while Cruise Control itself is ANT based. If anyone has ever tried to bodge these two products together I'd really like to get some input from them just to make sure I (and by defininition the entire development team) aren't going off half-cocked with this. --Richard ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Download Intel® Parallel Studio Eval Try the new software tools for yourself.
