I have searched the mail list archive and found a bit about:

> Default buildresultsurl attribute on email publishers
> -----------------------------------------------------
>Resolution: Fixed
>                 Key: CC-982

but although it seems improved (ie buildresultsurl is now
optional and may be omitted) the url it uses does not seem valid

I rely on the default buildresultsurl attribute on email
publishers because I have two machines building the same projects,
so I need to know on which machine a build failed and they use the
same config out of source control.

My understanding is that they should be able to do this, however if
I leave the buildresultsurl out, viz:

        <email mailhost="sentinel.com"
         returnaddress="[email protected]"
         skipusers="false"
         reportsuccess="never"
         subjectprefix="[CruiseControl]"
         spamwhilebroken="false">
           <failure address="[email protected]"  />
           <failure address="[email protected]" />
           <success address="[email protected]" />
           <propertiesmapper
file="R:\software\scripts\utils\cruise-control\email.properties"/>
        </email>

the url in the email is:

http://sentinel.com:8080/dashboard/20101104182550

which is sort of what the documentation says;

buildresultsurl URL to the build results JSP. This defaults to the
hostname, domain name and web port (if specified) of the server, followed
by /dashboard.

(this doesn't mention the log timestamp which is needed to identify the
build that failed, rather than just the latest)

but this is not the url that's required. (Theres nothing at this url :
HTTP ERROR: 404   NOT_FOUND  RequestURI=/dashboard/20101104182550 )

If I navigate with my browser to the results, they are either at:

http://sentinel.com:8080/cruisecontrol/buildresults/build-fast-all-release-products-merged?log=log20101104182550Lbuild.189

or if I'm going the dashboard route

http://sentinel.com.com:8080/dashboard/tab/build/detail/build-fast-all-debug-products-merged/20101104182550

so the project name and log timestamp seem to have been omitted.

If I'm missing something that I should have done, please let me know.

Thank you for your time.

Martin
