I think you'll need to dig into a little more detail to see what's going on.
 'prstat -L <your cc pid> ' should should you just how CC  is behaving w.r.t
processor utilisation.

Might help to post the timeout messages.  And also use jconsole to see what
the heap utilisation is on the dashboard process.

I've used CC on huge machines in the past.  32Gb RAM, oodles of ultraSPARC
processors.
