<deleteartifacts> tag not working

Hi,

I have installed 2.8.4 on Windows XP and have setup my CruiseControl.
Everything seems to be working all right except the <deleteartifacts> which
seems to do nothing.

<log>
     <deleteartifacts every="1" unit="DAY"/>
     <merge dir="${target}\testResults" />
</log>

Any idea as to why is it happening and how can i fix it.
