RE: Localize component

I have the feeling my question will be out of the scope of this mailing
list....but perhaps you can help...

I understand everything till now, but I only get stuck with how to
transform my html files to classes using Localize.....I know I must make
a build.xml, but my problem is that I have no experience with making
such files....Is it perhaps possible to provide me with a sample
build.xml......or give some pointers on how to get the job done

No problem.  I hope my post was helpful.

Note that Barracuda CVS now contains the latest XMLC-2.2beta1
jars....plus an update to the xhtml jar.  The .dtd.and .ent files were
not getting included in that jar.  Had to fix XMLC CVS post beta1.  I
figured it was worth adding to Barracuda.  So, XMLC jars are all
XMLC-2.2beta1 except the xhtml jar which has that one update.  Also note
that the BCel jar is now 5.1 release instead of the older 5.1-dev.

Hi Stefan,

Are you using the latest CVS?

If so, to use the localize taskdef, you'll need the following jars which
are located in Barracuda/WEB-INF/jars....

barracuda-ant.jar (contains Localize and other Barracuda taskdefs)
bcel-5.1-dev.jar (used for the new XMLC deferred parsing)
gnu-regexp-1.1.4.jar
jtidy-r7-xmlc-2.2.jar
wireless-xmlc-2.2.jar (optional...if you are using WML templates)
xerces-1.4.4-xmlc-2.2.jar
xhtml-xmlc-2.2.jar (optional...if you are using XHTML templates)
xmlc-2.2.jar
xmlc-taskdef-xmlc-2.2.jar (contains the Xmlc taskdef used by the
Localize taskdef)

As you might note, Localize is based on XMLC so if you are not using
XMLC or don't want to use it, Localize is of very little use to you.
Also remember that at runtime, you will need to load XMLC classes the
way that Barracuda's DefaultDOMLoader loads XMLC classes, taking the
locale into account, which is similar to how Java string bundles work.
The way to load classes via Barracuda to take advantage of this is....

Document doc = null;
//load the localized DOM template
try {doc = DefaultDOMLoader.getGlobalInstance().getDOM(MyPageHTML.class,
theCurrentRequestLocale);}
catch (IOException ioe) {logger.fatal ("Fatal Error loading DOM
template:", ioe);}

To use the above, in addition the jars above (other than the taskdefs),
you'll need the following in your WEB-INF/lib...

barracuda-core.jar
plankton.jar

You will find these jars in Barracuda/WEB-INF/lib-cvs

Also note that as soon as XMLC-2.2beta1 is release, it will be added to
Barracuda.  The one change you will notice from the current XMLC-2.2, if
you use the XMLC taskdef directly rather than the Localize taskdef, is
that the package that the XMLC taskdef has changed.  However, if you
only use the Localize taskdef, you needn't worry about this.
