Vinay has already tried this. Basically we have to get rid of use of 
BlockContext.  Is there any chance you could make changes against EOB's 
CVS, and we apply the patch to make it compatible with Phoenix and 
Merlin?  We plan Plexus support too.  If you're keen enough I could add 
you as a committer to do this.

Lastly, it is not crazy, and should be fairly easy.
