Hi all,
I've been thinking whether it would make sense to have a 1 or 2 day
JGroups workshop ?
Use of JGroups has grown significantly over the years, and we have now
2000-3000 downloads / months on a regular basis, totalling 130'000
downloads over its life time. The user mailing list also has 340 and the
dev list 130 subscribers.
Is there any interest from the community in having such a workshop ?
The following points come to my mind when thinking about this:
* Attendance cost should be minimal, as this should be a community
event. It would basically have to cover my travel costs, and the
venue (hotel room?)
* US or Europe ?
* Maybe someone could sponsor the location, e.g. a company's meeting
room
* I'm thinking 20 people would be the right size
The agenda would be determined largely by the attendees, but I could
think of something like this:
* Presentation of the latest releases (feature wise)
* Tips & tricks, pitfalls to avoid, best practices
* Performance tuning
* Diagnosis tools, JMX, probe.sh
* Programming of protocols (maybe not !)
* Architectural questions
* Experience exchange
* Specific issues, bugs, questions etc
Whay do people think ? Would you attend such an event ?
