Hi I think we can have some solution - is there a public api to interact with jlcp provided services, e.g. user management. You can use DAO thru WebServices and implement your own presentation layer. Can we not explore idea of having component services and presentation layer independent to each other and can run on different servers for single organization i.e. one can run WebServices on say tomcat1 and presentation on tomcat 2. User can access JLCP thru tomcat2 and get complete functionality. Security seems issue but we can stop access to tomcat1 by assigning IP on intranet or run on port not directly allowed by firewall. Reply-To: [email protected] Team, You can now approve which users are able to sign on to your site. To turn this on in your distribution, just go to the administration console and click on Set General Site Properties. Just uncheck the box for autoapproval and then you can approve users that create accounts from the User Admin tab. You'll also want to configure the smtp server info so that it can send approval and rejection notices to your users. It also looks like Paul has fixed up the weird link problems. Now if I could just fiugre out why some of my fonts are much smaller than others :) -Matt --__--__-- Message: 2 Date: Fri, 9 May 2003 17:40:35 -0400 (EDT) From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: [jl-volunteers] [ISSUES] Closed: (JLCP-93) Allow admins to approve users Reply-To: [email protected] Message: The following issue has been closed. Reply-To: [email protected] hi, we are about to build a community software with some custom functionality in addition to the more standard forum, user management, buddy list and so on stuff. the system should be based on j2ee and we would like to build on top of some "standard" community platform. jlcp seems to fit nice. my question that far is how well does jlcp support such a "custom module" concept already? more precise: - is there a public (stable) api for such custom components? - is there a public api to interact with jlcp provided services, e.g. user management. - is there something like extension point to add functionality or change behavior for existing modules? maybe not all of that is yet implemented, but maybe there are already some design concepts, that we might help implement. regards, stefan --__--__-- Message: 11 Date: Sat, 10 May 2003 11:19:56 -0400 From: Matthew Schmidt <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [jl-volunteers] jlcp ready for custom modules? Reply-To: [email protected] Stefan, Thanks for emailing the list. Right now, there is no api for modules or api to connect to our services (other than calling our actions and taglibs directly). Both of these things are under design and in the process of getting some initial code worked out. Paul Hinze and myself will be working on a way to drop new modules into the UI. Matthew Porter is working on an intermediate layer (with security) for interacting with the other DAOs (data access objects) in our core. There is plenty to do, and I'm sure we could use some help somewhere. Matthew, your thoughts? -Matt Stefan Reuter wrote: >hi, > >we are about to build a community software with some custom >functionality in addition to the more standard forum, user management, >buddy list and so on stuff. >the system should be based on j2ee and we would like to build on top of >some "standard" community platform. jlcp seems to fit nice. >my question that far is how well does jlcp support such a "custom >module" concept already? >more precise: >- is there a public (stable) api for such custom components? >- is there a public api to interact with jlcp provided services, e.g. >user management. >- is there something like extension point to add functionality or change >behavior for existing modules? > >maybe not all of that is yet implemented, but maybe there are already >some design concepts, that we might help implement. > >regards, >stefan > >_______________________________________________ >JL-Volunteers mailing list >[email protected] >http://cato.usermagnet.com/mailman/listinfo/jl-volunteers > > --__--__-- _______________________________________________ JL-Volunteers mailing list [email protected] http://cato.usermagnet.com/mailman/listinfo/jl-volunteers End of JL-Volunteers Digest
