Replace layer?

My question is that I would like to replace a layer, and I = don't find how to do it. I am developing a class using the API and I read the swf file and I get = the MainScript. After this, I read the frame 0 (I don't have more), but = then, here is where I lose. The layer that I want to replace is = containing a gif file, and I would like to replace it with another gif = file. How could I do it? What am I doing bad? Thanks in advance for your help.
