Re: [rvm-research] GSoC 2013 Call for Jikes RVM project proposals

I would be interested in mentoring the bytecode verifier or
JVMTI, since I have been involved in ASM hacking and extensive
use of JVMTI lately.  I am not familiar with the existing
JVMTI work.

I wonder whether we should pick up the thread on any of these
ideas:

- A better register allocator (got bogged down in complex
   particulars, particularly for x86)

- A Quick Compiler that does simple optimization and some use
   of registers, possibly modeled after existing dynamic code
   generation systems such as that of QEMU

- Opt compiler for 64-bit x86

- Any steps that might bring us closer to easier / automated
   porting

- Java 7

- Java 8

I would be interested in the Quick Compiler and x86 Opt Compiler
myself (for mentoring).  If there's more interest in some of these
than just me, I can see about adding them to the wiki.
