Version 3.0b1 of the JPublish web application framework is now available
at http://www.jpublish.org/ .

This is the first beta release for JPublish 3.x and represents a giant
leap forward in the design and flexibility of JPublish. With the
addition of a powerful Virtual File System you have more options for
retrieving and updating content. Additionally JPublish 3.x now runs as
a compressed WAR in servlet engines.

This release includes the following changes: Added forward() and
include() methods to RequestContext which use the current request's
RequestDispatcher to forward or include. Character encoding now works
properly for templates, content and pages. Upgraded to XWork 1.0.
Content repositories with content configuration file systems must
explicitly declare the file system in jpublish.xml. This fixes a
problem with content repositories which are not based on the local file
system where the DefaultRepository implementation was attempting to
locate a configuration file. Added support for Groovy actions.
Properly implemented component example.

Comments, suggestions and feedback on JP 3 are welcome as always.

Sincerely,
Anthony Eden
