ohhhh, how easily our eyes trick us :-) of course this works
but why is the ACL needed? Does it have to do with the main page only or
will I always have to use ACL's?

why does it not suffice to login in order to see the main page?
when I have this line for authenticated users:
permission com.ecyrd.jspwiki.auth.permissions.PagePermission "*:*",
"modify,rename";

modify should allow one to edit all pages and upload files
