I figured out that the problem was using IBM's JDK.  Someone on the 
message board said they have nothing but problems with it.  I've 
upgraded to the Sun-JDK 1.5 and it seems to work.

I'm sorry Nathan, that I don't have the log anymore, though.  I guess it 
would have been nice to have a message box that said--"Use Sun!", or 
something like that.
