With this, one can likely leverage existing LM libs yet the deployment/runtime model is vastly different, more scale, etc. - james -- James Todd :: blogs.sun.com/gonzo | weblogs.java.net/blog/gonzo MyJXTA :: use it - learn it - do it Java == platform independence XML == application independence JXTA == network independence Secure End-to-End Computing Mike Haller wrote: > Hi James, > > thanks for your comments! > > FlexLM => FlexNet (macrovision.com) > > I'm trying to implement my own licensing lib as alternative solution to > FlexLM (diploma thesis). > > Since all existing licensing mechanisms rely on a (standalone) server, I > was thinking into a different direction - why not use p2p structures to > manage license keys and their use? > > mike > > James Todd schrieb: > >> >> Absolutely. >> >> When I first joined Sun, in '92, I built the licensing back end for >> the bulk >> of the s/w products and some h/w products.
