They do (in the implementation though). The reasoning is mostly 
historical, in 1.0 advertisements did not define indexable fields and 
such elements were not required to be exposed.  I think these fields 
should be made public so that they may be referenced directly.

Submit an issue against the platform, and if you attach a patch, even 
better.
