Vanessa thanks for the feedback.

In order to best isolate any remaining issues and test the patch fully, 
I have changed the tutorial to be multi-threaded, and process each 
connection on a separate thread.  This is should maintain the focus on 
where a close message is dropped/lost, rather than on the deficiencies 
of server example.  The change was committed under the platform (see 
platform/www/java/tutorial/examples/socket)
