Hardware Provision For Super-Peers - Private Network

I believe there was information, posted some time ago, about how relay and
rendezvous super-peers are better implemented on separate boxes as it is
more efficient than running combined rdv/relays on a single box.... but I
can't find it!

Does anyone remember this or have and information that may assist me?

I'm trying to put together a hardware specification for super-peers to
support a peer community of up-to 1000 and need some assistance with how
many X86 or Sparc boxes to buy.

I appreciate this is a tricky question because it depends what the peer
community will be 'doing'.  However, as a clue, the peer community will be
exchanging 'documents' (1K-500K in size) and there will be peek usage times
around key business hours.

Any information is welcomed (p.s. I read the Wiki's on configuration and
system/network requirements already.)
