I suggest starting by copying all Luxor sources in a new module such as luxor-aspectj so you can start refactoring crosscutting concerns and we can see it all in action and try it out. Let me know if you're interested and I'll add you to the developer list and also let me know if you want me to do the initial import into the sourceforge CVS.
