Hello, > A good decision to change the license however, how > do I ensure that I have a > copy of Luxor SWT and supporting packages that is > covered by Apache 2.0? Allow me to repost my mail from the developer list. Here we go: Sorry for the confusion. Luxor is dual licensed, that is, Luxor is available for free under the GNU GPL. If the GPL rules don't work for you, you're more than welcome to get a classic license. Note, that if you contribute you will get a "free" classic license that frees you from the GNU GPL share-alike clause. We (the core Luxor developers) canceled the Apache 2.0 license switch over because with no sponsor behind Luxor the free-for-all license would kill the project. So far all promises by companies using Luxor in production to get involved and contribute back were just empty promises. Even after offering to switch the license to an Apache 2.0 license they showed no interest and instead they continue to violate the GPL share-alike clause and enjoy a free ride abusing other people's goodwill. --- Sorry if this sounds too harsh. If anyone is interested in getting Luxor licensend under the Apache 2.0 licensen I invite you to contribute and join the rank of the Luxor core developers. It's the Luxor core developers choice and job to decide the license. If enough Luxor core developers prefer the Apache 2.0 license, we will switch over. For now, however, the consensus is to stick to the GPL and offer a classic commercial license for those who don't contribute anything or don't want to be bound by the GPL share-alike clause. Let us know if this makes sense to you. - Gerald ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email sponsored by Black Hat Briefings & Training.
